The Uses of Dimethylamine
- Dimethylamine is often used in organic synthesis, as a precursor to various other chemicals, such as pesticides, dyes, and pharmaceuticals.
- Additionally, dimethylamine is used in the production of rubber and plastics, as well as in the formulation of some household cleaning products.
- Dimethylamine can also be used as a solvent for the removal of acidic gases, such as carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide, from natural gas and refinery streams.
Health Hazards: This product is a strong irritant to the eyes and respiratory tract. Skin contact with liquid dimethylamine can cause necrosis, and eye contact can cause corneal damage and turbidity.
Explosion hazard: This product is flammable and highly irritating.
